All zz not well....!

A couple of months back, a guy called Atul Agnihotri  tried to make an on screen version of 'India's most loved writer,Chetan Bhagat's (atleast that's what he calls himself) 'One night @ the call centre'.The movie which was a sincere adaptation of the book(with a script written by the writer himself) bombed badly at the box office.Thankfully, chetan didn't complain then for the lack of enthusiasm shown towards his script by his beloved readers.A Few months later, an intelligent guy called Raaju Hiraani released an 'engineered' version of his own 'Munnabhai' shot in a dil chahta-yish style after buying the rights of Five Point Someone  from Chetan Bhagat (with none other than Aamir khan in the lead).Needless to say , the movie is all set to become the highest grosser in the history of Indian Cinema. Those who have read the book would definitely know that, though FPS was a good reading experience,it would never be so when transformed to screen. Most of the wit came from the funny one liners and the dialogues in the book, which can never be the same when repeated on screen.

Now, let's see whether the movie is a frame to frame copy of the book as chetan bhagat alleges it to be.

Here are the similarities of 3 Idiots and Five Point Someone:

  • The first similarity between 3 Idiots and Five Point Someoneis Alok(Raju’s character) which is very similar to that of the movie.
  • Venkat- the studios guy for whom Alok leaves his friends so that he could excel in his studies' is there in 3 Idiots as well. Alok comes back to his friends leaving Chatur when Ryan helps his sick dad. In 3 Idiots, Rancho and Pia take the dad to the hospital.
  • Neha 's   brother committed suicide due to the unrealistic expectations of  her father.

Here are the scenes that are different in 3 Idiots, which dint feature in Chetan Bhagat's Five Point Someone

1. The suicide scene
2. The scenes where Rancho gives a double everytime to make Pia understand her fiancĂ© doesn’t love her, does not feature in the book
3. Chatur ’s chamatkar balaatkar scene is not in the book
4. The twist before the interval
5. The climax where Omi says that he has a meeting with a Japanese scientist not there in FPS.
6. The invisible act of Rancho
7.Most importantly the story in Five Point Someone is about Hari who is love with the professor Cherian’s girl Neha. In this, the guy who plays Hari,is not in love with Pia (Neha). Pia is Rancho’s girlfriend. Neha has a very important role to play in Chetan Bhagat’s Five Point Somone. .

So All is certainly not well for chetan bhagat and the 3 idiots team........!!!!
